What is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)?
Independent living residences offer a maintenance-free lifestyle. Should your needs change over time, a continuing care retirement community gives you the confidence of knowing long-term care is available on site at predictable costs. We offer a range of levels of living for financial security and peace of mind.
CloseWhat levels of living are provided at Covenant Living at the Shores?
Our priority is to meet the needs of our residents. Covenant Living at the Shores is a continuing care retirement community with four levels of residency:
- Residential Living—208 apartment homes with more than 100 floor plans, including studios, one- and two-bedroom and custom residences. Each features a complete kitchen with a full appliance packages, security, morning check-in and other amenities. Available dining, maintenance, grounds keeping and other services provide a burden-free environment that gives residents freedom to pursue their interests.
- Assisted Living—32 studio and one-bedroom apartments. Our professional staff provides assistance with daily routines to help residents maintain an active and purposeful life.
- Memory Support Assisted Living—15 studio, alcove and companion suite residences, for a warm, comforting and secure environment staffed by a specially trained care team.
- Skilled Nursing—43 spacious private and semi-private suites provide 24-hour nursing care in a 5-star rated health center facility.
Does Covenant Living at the Shores accept direct admissions to health care neighborhoods?
We welcome direct admissions to Assisted Living, Memory Support Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing, as space is available. We also offer a full continuum of health care services to meet the challenges of growing older:
- Rehabilitative therapy services to help individuals regain mobility, speech, balance, and activities of daily living (ADLs)
- Skills necessary to maintain their highest level of independence, including occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, and physical therapy
- Short-term rehab, long-term care, outpatient therapy, respite care and hospice.
Who qualifies for Independent Living and what are the entrance requirements?
Entering residents must be 62 years or older. (If a couple, one must be 62 at time of residency.) The residency application includes an individual application for residency and a financial report. The application deposit is waived until an apartment is reserved.

If everyday activities such as meal preparation, dressing or managing medications take a toll on your energy and enthusiasm and you do not need skilled nursing care, reach for the helping hand of Assisted Living at Covenant Living at the Shores.
CloseWho determines the proper transition plan should a resident need to move to another level in the Continuum of Care?
When a resident or a family member feels that you might benefit from another level of living, contact the Health Care Sales and Outreach Office. It is never too early to begin this conversation, as there is often a waiting list for these transitions due to availability of rooms and apartments. During this conversation, your contract will be reviewed to clarify your benefit days. If you have long-term care insurance, please let us know, as we don’t want to overlook any possible benefits.

We endeavor to fulfill the lives of our residents by ensuring that they maintain the highest levels of health for mind, body and spirit. We offer long-term care, short-term rehab, respite care and hospice.
CloseWho is primarily responsible for health care and medical services at Covenant Living at the Shores?
The Health Care Administrator oversees the Wellness Clinic Nurse for residential living, the Director of Assisted Living and the Director of Nursing for the Health Center. The Medical Director oversees care practices and policies.
CloseWhat level of living is provided in residential living apartments?
There is a Wellness Clinic nurse, with scheduled hours, available for consultation and assessment for residents.
CloseHow does my Primary Care Physician fit into my health care program at Covenant Living at the Shores?
Residents are encouraged to seek advice and treatment from their primary care providers, and they can also access the health care services of our visiting physicians at Covenant Living at the Shores.
CloseWhat happens if a resident requires hospitalization?
Covenant Living at the Shores residents are encouraged to advise Administration in the event they are hospitalized. Health Care staff will maintain contact with resident’s family and hospital for discharge needs for all levels of living.
CloseIs there a pharmacy at Covenant Living at the Shores?
We have door-to-door pharmacy services available in Residential Living. This is the same pharmacy that provides services to our other levels of living on campus.
CloseHow does medical insurance coverage work at Covenant Living at the Shores?
Medical insurance information is obtained for all residents at admission for all levels of living. For Skilled Nursing Care, insurance is evaluated prior to admission to assure your plan is contracted with our facility.
CloseAre there any Social Service offerings or programming at Covenant Living at the Shores?
The Health Care Sales and Outreach staff assists with transitions throughout the continuum of care for our residents and their family members. Information seminars are offered throughout the year on various health care topics. There is a dedicated Social Service staff for the Health Center to assist with placement and discharge planning to meet all psychosocial needs.
CloseDoes Covenant Living at the Shores accept long-term care insurance?
Long-term care insurance can protect your estate from the expenses of Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing care, and many of our residents are successfully using their benefits. Consult your policy for details specific to your coverage.
Keep in mind, you do not have to be a current resident of our retirement community to benefit from our assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing or short-term rehabilitation services, nor will you have to pay an entrance fee to enter one of the areas noted above. In our short-term rehabilitation program, we accept Medicare and are in-network providers for a number of managed care and Medicare Advantage programs.
